Land Soil testing

In ancient text various methods are prescribed for soil testing before any construction. Based on the results obtained after performing these methods soil suitability for construction is devised.
These methods are as follows

1.  In Middle of land dig a pit of (24x24x24 angulas) or (18x18x18 inches). Use the soil obtained from digging to re-fill the same pit. If some soil remains after re-filling then this land is very good and suitable for construction. If no soil remains then it is not good not bad while if some part of pit remains empty after re-filling all soil it is not auspicious.
2.  In second method fully fill the pit after digging as per method 1 with water and walk away 100 steps and come back. If after coming back 2 angulas water get dried then it is not good nor bad, if only 1 angulas or less get dried land is very good and auspicious, while if more then 2 angulas get dried then it is not suitable.
3.  In 3rd method dig pit of 1 foot and fill it completely with water. Check the water in pit after 24 hours, if there is some water remaining inside the pit then the land is very good and auspicious. If there is no water left then it is not good nor bad. If pit is completely dry and soil is broken then this land is not auspicious and not suitable for construction.
4.  Pit as per method 3 can be used for method 4. In this method some flowers should be put at evening time. Then fill the pit with pitcher full water and see the flowers. If flowers floats above water then the land is very auspicious. If flowers doesn’t float and remain drowned then it is not auspicious, any type of construction on this land is not recommended at all.

There are more methods to test the soil but these are mostly recommended by ancient architects like Maya, Vishwakarma and by Many ancient texts.

Land Selection in Vaastu

नमो महावीरायः नमः

Vaastu is sanskrit word and as per Jain gyan kosh (जैन ज्ञान कोश - मराठी ) it means “House, village or town”. There are three type of houses
                        1.  खान (Mine) – Built under ground
                        2.  उच्छित– One storey house built over ground
                        3.  खातोच्छित– Two storey house along with basement

Vaastu also means as per different vedic and Jaina shastras
    -   A place or land to built house
    -  House
    -  To dwell
    -     Land

There are 2 main cause which decides on vaastu results
  1.      Day and Night cycle because of Earth revolution around its own axis,
  2.      Magnetic energy which flows from North to South.

Sun rays brings heat and light which brings life to all food generated plants and other plants.

Vaastu rules used in house construction, renovating and interior planning provides fruitful results, good health and prosperity to the house owner and his family.
Vaastu balances the environment and brings harmony to the people lives in the house.

There are well defined steps to be followed from selecting the land till completion of construction and house warming. If followed these brings happiness, prosperity, good health, long and peaceful life to family.

Selection of Soil or Land
According to almost all vedic vaastu shastras and texts selection of soil or land is to be done as per slope in different directions.
According to slope of particular land in particular direction generates different results, good or bad.
Here present are some of the rules while selecting the land or soil
1.  no slope or equal slope in all directions is best.

 2.    Land which slope down towards North East and up towards South West brings wealth, life and prosperity. This type of land is known as Gajparistha(गजपृष्ठ).

3. Land which slope down towards west and up towards north-east, east and north is known as Daityaparistha (दैत्यपृष्ठ ). This land brings loss of money, conflicts, thus not suitable for construction.

Based on above descriptions land slope is utmost important to consider.

Slope down towards north and east are considered to be the best and gives all kind of prosperity and strength to house members.

From east sun provides light and so east is considered auspicious direction. Sunrise rays gives prosperity to all including houses. Rain water if flow towards east it directly goes into ground. This type of land provides wealth, good health of family members and power.

North lord is Kubera and land slope down towards North has Kubera vision directly. This type of lands bring wealth, power and higher education.North pole star is also situated in North which is considered to provide stability.

As per vishwakarmaprakash and vaastu chintamani(By Jain Muni Shri108 Acharya Devnandi Ji Maharaj) natural slope of land towards East is money yielding, towards North East very auspicious and towards North good for the family. Same is said by Mayamatam, Manasaram and other vaastu epics.
